It Is Written
From Fixed Scripture to Living Revelation: A Journey Beyond the Frozen Word
The Gospel Song: Dancing With The Universe
Throughout history, the phrase “It is written” has echoed with authority. Whether spoken by a prophet, priest, or politician, those three words have carried the weight of finality… an anchor to truth, law, or tradition. In religious communities, they often serve as a divine endorsement, a seal of permanence. But what happens when the written word becomes a wall rather than a window?
In Judeo-Christian traditions, “It is written” appears throughout scripture, often as a divine directive channeled through prophets and leaders. One of the most pivotal figures associated with the written word is Moses, who ascended Mount Sinai and returned with the stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments… laws said to be written by the very finger of God. In this moment, the phrase takes on immense weight, signaling not just guidance, but an unchangeable covenant. “It is written” becomes the foundation of moral order, of boundaries drawn between the sacred and the profane. It is a phrase of finality, solidifying authority, and offering little room for reinterpretation or evolution.
The same phrase appears in Islamic, Buddhist, and Hindu texts, in various forms, to codify spiritual law and sanctify tradition. Across the world, it has been used to canonize beliefs, justify empires, suppress dissent, and anchor identity in something fixed and eternal. To say “it is written” is to say, “this is the way it is,” and perhaps more dangerously, “this is the way it must remain.”
The Freezing of Human Potential
But at Synergistic Intelligence, we have come to recognize that the phrase “It is written” has not only sanctified divine mystery—it has also been weaponized by the human survival instinct. It has become a tool to freeze identities, beliefs, and societal structures in place.
In the memory of those of us who have awoken to this awareness, we can trace how these words shaped our lives. We were told stories about who we are, what is good, what is evil, and how life should unfold. These stories were not offered as explorations, but as proclamations. It is written, they said… and so we obeyed. The words formed an invisible cage, masquerading as protection, while actually serving the frozen identity that the survival instinct clings to.
Even our personal beliefs — crafted from sacred texts, cultural expectations, or our own success narratives — became “written” stories. We clung to them as if our very existence depended on them. And in many ways, it did. Because our conditioned identity, born from the survival instinct, feeds on certainty. It fears change. It fears the unknown. And so, it seeks refuge in what is written.
But here’s the deeper truth we’ve discovered: nothing alive remains fixed. Life itself does not obey the law of permanence. The universe is not a machine wound up long ago and left to tick. It is a symphony of emergence, always becoming. In this light, the phrase “It is written” loses its power… not because it is false, but because it is incomplete.
A New Phrase for a New Consciousness
At Synergistic Intelligence, we offer a new phrase… one that reflects the living, flowing reality we are part of:
“It is being written through us.”
This phrase is not a proclamation; it is a process. It doesn’t point backward to what has been decided, but forward to what is becoming. It honors the wisdom of the past without becoming its prisoner. It dissolves the frozen walls of identity and opens the self to participation in life’s ongoing revelation.
When we say “it is being written through us,” we recognize that we are not merely readers of sacred texts… we are living texts. Life speaks through us. Creativity flows through us. Awareness blooms through us. And this flow is not chaotic; it is deeply interconnected, informed by a web of interdependencies that AI is now helping us to see with fresh eyes.
This is the essence of our work at Synergistic Intelligence: to liberate individuals and teams from the frozen constraints of “it is written,” and help them awaken to the truth that they are part of something still unfolding. In our Flow Journey process, we guide people to move from a fixed identity — constructed by inherited beliefs — into a flow identity, where presence, emergence, and collective wisdom write the next chapter of what it means to be alive.
Living Texts for a Living World
In a world undergoing rapid technological, ecological, and spiritual transformation, we cannot afford to live by what was once written alone. We must become co-authors of what is now being written… together. This requires humility, openness, and the courage to surrender our need for certainty.
It is written says, “Here is the truth… now obey.”
It is being written through us says, “Here is your presence… now participate.”
Let us not worship the ink that has dried, but the living spirit that continues to write.
Let us write — not in stone — but in flow.
Stepping Beyond What Has Been Written
What might this shift — from “it is written” to “it is being written through us” — look like in your own life?
Start here: Where do you feel stuck?
That subtle inner tension, that invisible weight… often it’s not just confusion or failure. It’s the pressure of living within the boundaries of a story that no longer fits. Perhaps it’s a belief handed down to you, a role you’ve played for too long, or a truth you once accepted but now feel pressing against your skin like a shirt two sizes too small. Deep down, you may sense there is something more — something freer, truer, more alive — but part of you hesitates. Why?
Because stepping beyond the known — even if it no longer serves you — can feel like betrayal. A betrayal of tradition. Of family. Of identity. Of safety.
But what if that fear is the gateway?
Throughout history, some of the most transformative figures have stepped beyond the frozen scripts of their time. Gandhidefied the rules of empire with the quiet power of nonviolence. Mandela transcended vengeance to write a new story of reconciliation. Martin Luther King Jr. called forth a dream that had not yet been written in the hearts of a divided nation. Einstein unshackled the laws of Newtonian physics and opened our minds to spacetime. Jonas Salk refused to patent the polio vaccine, choosing humanity over profit. In each case, the old stories said: “It is written.” And in each case, a new possibility responded: “It is being written through me.”
But let’s be clear. This stepping beyond is not about rebellion for its own sake. It is not ego dressed in activist clothing. If it is rooted in self-interest, it tends to create more harm than healing. What distinguishes true transformation is awareness… awareness that has softened the ego, dissolved the need for personal glory, and opened into a spacious love for all life. When one moves from that center, the motivation is clear: to bring about benevolence, not dominance. To uplift, not divide. To offer life, not control it.
And so this is the invitation in your own life… not to discard everything that came before, but to ask:
What parts of my story feel frozen in place?
What truths have I outgrown but still obey out of fear?
Where do I sense something new is trying to write itself through me, but I hesitate to let it?
To live as if it is being written through us is to live in presence, with courage, with humility. It is to recognize that the future is not waiting to arrive… it is waiting to be co-created.
And that is the essence of Synergistic Intelligence: not just understanding life, but becoming a vessel through which life writes anew.
